About

This website contains field recordings taken over the last five years using a variety of equipment and in various circumstances. The content on this site also appears on other websites I run (happyorange), all with a recording theme.

My favourite technical subject for recording is aircraft sound, although I will collect sound of everything.

About the recordings

All of the audio on this site is in mp3 format. I do get requests for better quality recordings which I make freely available on request. If you would like these recordings then please either email me via the contact page or leave a comment on the appropriate page and I will be pleased to help out as much as I can.

My recordings have been used in museum exhibits, multimedia presentations and played at commemoration services.

About the Spectograms and Waveforms

The spectrograms and waveforms are generated using Python code from freesound.org. The scripts are limited to generating these images from 16bit/44.1kHz wav file specification files which means I have to down or re-sample the sound files before they can be used. The process is a little bit disjointed as my web host does not support Python therefore they must be generated off-line and uploaded later.

"Why can't I download the files from your site?"

Contact me and I can send you copies of what you want.

About aircraft descriptions

Most of the aircraft descriptions are taken from Wikipedia. in some cases from other specialist sources such as aircraft operators.
